A lecture by stone industry experts Alfred Marian Sroka and Włodzimierz Ratajczak on the most common mistakes made when selecting natural stone in construction. The lecture will discuss the key factors affecting the durability, aesthetics and functionality of stone realizations. The speakers will point out the consequences that can result from improperly matching the material to the operating conditions, and how to avoid costly mistakes related to the selection and installation of stone.
In addition, participants will receive practical tips on the correct selection of raw materials, processing technology and methods of protecting stone from external factors. The lecture will be an excellent opportunity to gain valuable knowledge for both architects, contractors and investors looking for the best solutions in the use of natural stone in building structures.

Natural Stone: Geology, Mining, Construction
The lecture will present a classification of natural stones, which from a geological point of view are compact rocks. Their main types - magmatic, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks - will be discussed, along with the geological processes that led to their formation.
Also presented will be:
- Physical and mechanical properties of rocks and their influence on their use in construction,
- Examples of the use of natural stone in architecture and culture,
- The most important deposits of block and broken stones in Poland,
- Traditional and modern methods of mining and stone processing,
- The role of natural stone in the development of architecture and construction engineering.
The lecture will allow participants to better understand the importance of natural stone as a building and decorative material, as well as learn about its history, properties and potential for use in modern construction.
